Yazd Health Study (YaHS) has been started since September 2014, with the aim of monitoring public health and collecting reliable data on health status, various non-communicable diseases and related risk factors, on over 10,000 residents of Yazd Greater Area aged 20-69 years old. So far, the enrollment phase of the study has been successfully completed in 2015. Annual Phone follow-up of the study participants is in progress and the pilot study of phase two of the study is being conducted. The second phase of the study will begin in September 2019 after five years from the beginning of the study.

Several YaHS related studies have been established so far, the most important of which is the Yazd Nutrition Study (TAMYZ), Yazd Bio Bank and Yazd's Geospatial Epidemiology Study (Geo-YaHS). Details of these studies are available on the website.

So far, more than 40 post-graduate dissertations have been submited and about 30 peer reviewed papers were published in reputable scientific journals. To provide reliable information about health and diseases of the residents of Yazd Greater Area a series of four books were published for policy makers as well as media, researchers and the public.
